FEBRUARY 22, 2011
BK LOUNGE

When we first arrived at the Lounge last night it seemed like the crowd was going to be a small one. But, by show time we had a good sized group with several new faces which is always good to see.

Larry Dean was still experiencing some laryngitis and was unable to sing again. The rest of the band did a magnificent job of filling in for him as he backed them with his guitar. It is always great when Annie Little steps up to entertain as she did last night.

We want to extend our Sincerest Sympathy to Garry & Mary Bichelmeyer; Garry's brother, Mark, passed away on Monday.

We are also able to announce that the Stranger Creek band will be traveling to Concordia Kansas for our third concert at the Brown Grand Theater on Saturday, August 6. Watch for more information as the details become available.

We hope to see all of you, our fantastic fans, again next Tuesday at the BK Lounge.

FEBRUARY 18, 2011
GRINTER BARN JAMBOREE

Great! Great show at the Grinter Barn Jamboree last night. Beginning with the Ladies of "Friends of Grinter" serving a delicious Cheezy Beef & Noodle dinner. That was followed by a fantastic show from the Stranger Creek Band.

Larry Dean was suffering a sore throat and laryngitis and was unable to do a lot of singing. He did manage a couple of songs with a deep voice that sounded pretty good to me. He spent most of the evening supporting the band with his guitar, he and Garry had several jokes to tell which the crowd seemed to enjoy. The rest of the band consisting of Dave Purcell, Garry and Mary Bichelmeyer, Gordon Riley and Marvin Bredemeier stepped up and did a great job of taking care the vocals for Larry.

We had not been to the Grinter House since November so everyone was eager to be back. The dancers kept the floor filled most of the evening.

We will be back for the next Grinter Barn Jamboree on Thursday, March 17, 2011. More details will follow later on that event.

Larry announced that we will do an all "Rock & Roll" program on Thursday, April 21, 2011. Everyone should begin planning their 50's style clothes to wear. We will be hoping to see everyone dressed like they dressed in the 50's. You remember the Brylcream in the guys hair and tee shirts with cigarettes rolled up in the sleeves. of course the ladies wearing petticoats and poodle skirts. I'm sure there will be lots of entertainment going on all evening so please mark your calendar and plan to attend with us.

We hope to see you all next Tuesday at the BK Lounge.

FEBRUARY 16, 2011
BK LOUNGE

We had a near capacity crowd last night at the BK Lounge. It seems our fans have been shut in for so long with the inclement weather that when we finally got such a beautiful day they all came out to enjoy the fine music and renew old friendships.

Fine music was what we had with two very fine entertainers sharing their talents with us. Vance Monday and Annie Dunavin, star of Annie's Country Jubilee both joined us. Vance who hails from Arkansas (I believe) proved to be one of the finest steel guitar players around. Then, he picked up his fiddle and he and our own "Marvelous" Marvin Bredemeier proceeded to amaze us with some twin fiddle numbers. Of course Annie is well known around this area for her beautiful voice and singing ability. She kept the audience (including myself) spellbound with her renditions of several songs. I'm sure these two outstanding performers will be welcomed back anytime and it can't be soon enough!

Annie Little also contributed her usually outstanding musical ability in a well received performance for our pleasure.

It is so good to see our good friend "Miss Jean" Hawkins sitting at her usual place at the front table once again; Roger is so missed. We hope she continues to join us at these weekly get-togethers.

The Stranger Creek Band will be at the Grinter Barn Jamboree on Thursday, February 17th. The ladies of The Friends of Grinter will serve Cheezy Beef & Noodles at 6:00PM and the music will begin at 6:30. Cost is only $8.00 for the meal and show. Proceeds go to the "Friends of Grinter".

Hopefully we will see everyone back at the BK Lounge next Tuesday, February 22.

Every one stay safe!!

FEBRUARY 8, 2011
BK LOUNGE

What a great pleasure to see Jean Hawkins and her family come in the Lounge for tonight's show. It was the first time we had seen her since Roger's passing.
She pleased everyone when she announced that they planned to have the MO-KAN OPRY site up and running again in March. I think everyone has really missed it for the past several weeks.

We had a good crowd in spite of the extreme cold. There was a pretty heavy snow falling before the show ended but few people left early. I guess they have missed so many shows lately due to the weather that they were not going to give up on this one.

The band sang "Happy Birthday" to several and also helped Larry Dean celebrate his upcoming birthday on Saturday. In addition, Marvin reported that he and "Sug" had celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on Tuesday.

Jerome Oberle was there with his all-button accordion and entertained us with several musical numbers.

We are planning an all Rock & Roll show at the Grinter Barn Jamboree show April 21. Watch for more details and start planning to put on your costume and come out and join us.

The regular Grinter Barn Jamboree will be this coming Thursday, February 17. The Ladies of Grinter will begin serving Cheezy Beef & Noodles at 6:00PM and the music starts at 6:30. Only $8.00 for the dinner and show with proceeds going to the "Friends of Grinter". We hope to see everyone there.

Everyone stay safe and warm til we see you again next Tuesday at the BK Lounge!
