DECEMBER 28, 2010
BK LOUNGE

We had a smaller than usual crowd last night, presumably because of the Holidays. I know several of our loyal fans were out of town and I am sure some still had family events going on for the holidays. Still, it was a good turn-out.

The Lounge is really looking nice as the long anticipated remodeling project nears completion. The new paint has really helped to brighten the place up and our fans have a better view of the band and the dance area with the floral displays removed.

All of the band members were on hand to provide an evening of good music and dancing. We also had our "regular guests", Ron Fine and Art Covey on hand for their usual outstanding performances for us. We had a special treat when Garry introduced two of his cousins from the audience. First, Mary Kay (I'm sorry I did not get her last name) entertained us with a beautiful rendition of "Crazy". Then, Jessica Bichelmeyer demonstrated a STRONG, beautiful voice as she performed two songs; "You Ain't Woman Enough" and "Coal Miner's Daughter" and the audience wanted another. Both ladies were very well received by the audience. We hope to see both of them again soon. Jessica recently graduated from college and Garry said she had been sending some demonstration recordings to Nashville. In the near future she plans to travel down there and see if she can make some connections. I certainly hope doors open and she gets an opportunity.

I understand that Roger Hawkins is home from the Hospital now and continues to rest and improve at his home. Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with him and Jean.

If you have not yet made your reservations for dinner at the Eagles club New Years eve please do so. You should phone 913-432-2047 to make your reservation. Of course, if you cannot attend the dinner you can still come to the dance. Only $10 each for the dance including Champagne, noise makers and Biscuits & Gravy after the dance. The dance will start around 8:00PM

EVERYONE HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEARS!!

DECEMBER 21, 2010
BK LOUNGE

We expected a smaller crowd at the lounge because of preparations for the Christmas Holiday. Once again, our loyal and wonderful fans surprised us; the lounge was almost full to capacity when the show began.

The remodeling project at the Lounge appears to be nearly finished and it looks really nice.

We were missing our Willie Nelson sound alike, Dave Purcell tonight. Reports were that Dave intended to be with us and we don't know what happened but I suspect something came up to detain him at work.

The band put on a great performance, entertaining us with mostly Christmas songs. Jerome Oberle did a great performance with his all button accordions, as he usually does. We also enjoyed the beautiful voices of Annie Little and Ron Fine as they stepped up front.

We want to thank whoever brought in the large tray of assorted home-made candies for the enjoyment of all present, it was delicious. What a wonderful gesture, we know it was a lot of work.

We want to remind everyone to plan spending New Years eve with us at the Eagles club located just east of Antioch on Merriam Drive in Merriam, KS. The dance will begin at 8:00PM and for only $10 per person you will get Champagne and noise makers plus biscuits & gravy after the dance. If you wish to join us for dinner before the dance, you get either Steak or Shrimp with potato and salad for $12 or get both entrees for $17. You must make reservations for the dinner at 913-432-2047 no later than December 29. You can have a choice of eating at either 5:00PM or 6:00PM. We hope to see you all there!!!

We extend our wishes to all of our fans to have a SAFE AND VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

DECEMBER 21, 2010

The message below was forwarded to me this morning from Doris Riley. I do not know of any arrangements at this time. We extend our deepest sympathies to Sheryl's family:

Sheryl Higgins passed away. As I understand it, she had a stroke Saturday and passed away Sunday. She was one that always sit up by the cashier (in fact in November, she was our cashier). Never missed a Jamboree...................

DECEMBER 14, 2010
BK LOUNGE

Upon arriving at the BK Lounge we could see that the remodeling project is progressing nicely. We anxiously look forward to it's completion, it is really going to be nice.

Our Willie Nelson sound alike, Dave Purcell could not be with us for the show but we had some good guests to entertain us in his absence. Art Covell, Ron Fine, Annie Little and Jerome Oberle all put on great performances, it is always good to see them come in.

A high spot in the show was when Larry Dean sang an anniversary song for Dave and Jean Hightower's 53rd wedding anniversary. I think it was a total surprise for them and it was so nice when their family came in to help with the cake and celebration.

We need to remember Roger Hawkins in our thoughts and prayers. Roger fell in their home last Sunday and was admitted to the Hospital where he remains tonight. I'm sure that Miss Jean could really use some support, too.

Barb Keltner brought some forms for reservations to the New Years dinner at the Merriam Eagles Club. She said that in order to know how many dinners will be needed, they need to have your reservation and check no later than December 29. Cost is $12 for shrimp OR steak, potato and salad; or you get both entrees for $17 with potato and salad. Your choice of a 5:00PM or 6:00PM serving time.

The dance (music by Stranger Creek Band) after dinner is $10 and includes Champagne and noise makers plus Biscuits & Gray after the dance at 12:30AM.

DECEMBER 7, 2010
BK LOUNGE

There was a good sized group that braved the COLD weather last night to join us at the BK Lounge. By show time the dining room was nearly filled. Many of us enjoyed the show with our coats on due to a problem with the thermostat at the Lounge and it was pretty chilly. We are so jealous of those that went to Texas to enjoy a winter of nice warm weather but someone has to stay behind and take care of things at home.

Remodeling is moving along with a good start on concrete work on the walk in front of the building. Inside the floral in the dining room has been removed, new Sheetrock on the walls and most of the taping finished. Painting will be in progress soon; I know the dining room will be much brighter now. Everyone is anxious to see the finished product.

We were so blessed last night to have one of the finest country music singers around this area come into town to entertain us. Mr Larry Smith quickly had the crowd enthusiastically enjoying several songs as he performed for us. Annie Little was also back to demonstrate her beautiful voice as she entertained us as she always does.

Don't forget to make your dinner reservations at the Merriam Eagles Club for New Years Eve. Also, plan to stay for the dance and celebrating plus biscuits & gravy following the dance early New Year's morning. Don't miss this one!! $12 for Steak or Shrimp dinner and $10 for the dance with champagne and noisemakers with biscuits & gravy after the dance.
